ADULT EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

Welcome to the Adult Emergency Medicine website of Auckland City Hospital. The department is one of two major trauma centre's serving the Auckland region. The hospital serves a population of approximately 500,000 and also provides specialized treatment for patients from other centers in New Zealand and the Pacific region.

The Department sees approximately 50,000 patients annually with a high index of disease severity . The Department is co-located with the Starship Hospital's Paediatric Emergency Department which sees approximately 30,000 patients annually, making the Auckland campus one of the busiest in Australasia .

The department has an excellent faculty with expertise in resuscitation, disaster medicine, research and clinical toxicology .

The Department is affiliated with the Auckland University Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education
